A bit behind on blogging this beautiful family! I love how prepared they were, how excited they were for photographs, and how amazing their son was. Of course, we had to say a lot of “optimus prime’s” in order to keep him interested, but after he warmed up, oh, what a ham! It turns out he might just take after his father…

I can’t wait to meet their newest addition…should be any day now!

Eeeep! Gorgeous mama to be + gorgeous Kamloops sunset = stunning photographs for this beauty! I can’t wait to meet the little baby inside…and in only a few weeks. We rescheduled this session (on account of weather) a few times and this mama could go into labour any day! And she’s as radiant as ever. I loved her happy go lucky personality and the way she spoke softly…she’s going to be an excellent new mom!Love everything about you!

Oh my, oh my…according her mama, this little baby doesn’t sleep well at all. But while she was with me, she didn’t make a peep, not even once! She was an angel baby, who (I think anyways), loved being in front of the camera! I love that this mama booked her newborn session with me back when she was still overseas, and must have been only months pregnant! This session has been on my schedule for EVER, and, to be honest, I thought it might have been a scam. I was really surprised to get a phone call in late April announcing she had been born and asking when they could schedule their session! It was a little life lesson in trust for me, and I’m so glad I did not blow them off! I probably say this every time, but I could plaster my wall with these images…I absolutely cannot even choose a favourite!

I loved that this momma let me come into her home for her maternity session. And double loved that I did the same thing for Mr. Dallas’ newborn session a few weeks later. Of course it helps that their house is gorgeous and full of “photo opportunities” for the discerning eye. And when little babes sleep…and sleep…so perfect.

Love that we went to the same place as we did last year for their family photographs…and it was completely different. I cannot wait until this little person decides to enter this world – it is going to be one super loved little baby, and not just by me (and yes I will get to squish and cuddle and hug him or her!), but also by his or her two older sisters and a whole loving family. But for now, that little baby made for some adorable bumps…

One of my wonderful yoga instructors (yea, yoga!!) graciously came to my studio the other day. What is it about yoga instructors? They are always so calm, peaceful, put-together…or maybe that’s just how I always see them. I’m sure she has her less than perfect moments too, but not this day. On this day, she. was. radiant!

Just for a few hours, and I was invited into her house to photograph her and her daughter…and her pregnant belly!

It’s not what I normally do, but wow did I love it. Definitely going to be seeing more of this…it’s true, it’s beautiful, it’s completely unique.

Last Saturday I spent the day with my camera in my hand and I worked on a personal project I’ve been wanting to do for some time – I just documented a day in our lives. Now, it wasn’t perfect. For example, I forgot about bath and bedtime, and sort of forgot about everyone else except my kids, but what a great exercise for practicing to be observant, un-intrusive and really seeing the world through children’s eyes.

This image below is a perfect example of why you don’t want your camera set to auto. If my camera was on auto-pilot, the flash would’ve popped up and it would’ve blasted my son with head-0n light (and probably created a nasty flare in the safety glasses). This image actually doesn’t look that great in colour, but I knew it would look fabulous in black and white. There’s only a little light streaming in from a (very dirty) side window in our garage.

What I’m offering is an opportunity for you to remember a day in your life…unscripted, chaotic, blissfully perfect!

One of my goals for 2012 was to photograph my children more. And not just using them as subjects in my studio, but to really photograph them, document their life, catch their little nuances – before they are gone and I don’t even know it. I read a little story once, about how childhood, through a parent’s eyes, is not about all the firsts. It is about the lasts. The lasts that slip away quietly without notice. Lasts like when your daughter starts saying “milk” instead of “nalp.” Lasts like when your son wears footed pajamas for the last time. Lasts like when you realize your kids don’t ask for bedtime songs anymore. These are the moments we cherish in memory, that we don’t realize are even missing until they are long gone. With these spring sessions, I am offering to help you remember your perfectness, the beauty of your own family life, as your are today, unscripted, chaotic…and blissfully perfect!

Real life is beautiful. Let me show you…

Locations in both Kamloops (most likely early June) and Ashcroft (last weekend in May). Both locations with be in natural, outdoor settings (Ashcroft likely Hat Creek Ranch). The focus is on you and your family, or just your child(ren) if you prefer.

A 30 minute session, with 10+ online proofs
Includes two digital images of your choice OR a print credit of $50.

Investment just $150

Little details – sessions are held on a pre-determined day, time and location. Immediate family only please. If you would like extended family, please book two sessions – we will need the extra time.
Images will be available for viewing in an online gallery for one week after you are given access. Depending on volume, galleries will be available for viewing one to two weeks after your session.
